Madrid romper
Description
Madrid belongs to a rare category of clothing known as loungewear, invented in France in the 17th century. They were garments to be worn in the morning before putting on the day clothes. Noble ladies performed their morning rituals, including washing, eating breakfast, reading books with their closest friends, and making decisions about plans for the upcoming hours in their negligees. This type of underwear enjoyed its peak popularity in the nineteenth century, and luxurious versions of petticoats, chemises, and kimonos were often made of silk, decorated with embroidery, lace or feathers.
Modern loungewear is usually sporty in style, but we refer to the old-fashioned type. Madrid romper is not only looking retro. We're also implementing old-school side fastening that was used for underwear in the 1920s.
The romper has a loose wrap over top made of double-layer micromodal, thin, adjustable shoulder straps, a V-shaped neckline on the back. The top is sewn together with shorts, but only on the back. There are two clever hooks on the sides. You do not need to remove the top to take off the bottom!
Shorts are decorated with lace, which may differ from one piece to another. To make this style, we used our stocks of French lace in the spirit of the zero waste movement.
Madrid is made of an extremely soft and breathable micromodal fabric.
